Scientific Seminar on Transmission Electron Microscopy

13 November 2026 | Saint-Jérôme Campus, Marseille – IM2NP – Poincaré Building (2nd floor)

The AMUtech Institute, in partnership with IM2NP and CINaM, is organising a scientific conference dedicated to Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and its applications in materials science and life sciences.

This event will bring together the Marseille scientific community to discuss recent advances in electron microscopy, research using these techniques, and prospects for the development of scientific equipment in Marseille.

It will also provide an opportunity to foster exchanges between the various scientific communities and to reflect collectively on future needs, particularly in the context of the project to acquire a state-of-the-art transmission electron microscope.

On the programme

  • A guest lecture by Ileana Florea (CRHEA, CNRS), focusing on new analytical techniques in STEM (scanning transmission electron microscopy).
  • A talk by Suzanne Giorgio, professor emerita and honorary member of the French Society of Microscopy, tracing the history of electron microscopy in Marseille.
  • Scientific presentations illustrating recent research carried out in Marseille using various transmission electron microscopy techniques.
  • A round-table discussion on the future of TEM in Marseille, including an overview of existing equipment, a presentation of the project to acquire a new microscope, and discussions on the needs and prospects of the scientific community.
